Stage 42 - Campobecerros to Laza (15.5km): 10/10/2014 08:25

The Albergue at Laza
We sauntered into Laza today after a 15km trek from Campobecerros feeling fresher than we do after our morning walk round the quarry. By the time we arrived we had forgotten all about the first kilometre which was a tough uphill climb. We had a few more ups and downs before we came to the final 8km which was all downhill along the side of a valley. The scenery was spectacular throughout the journey, although the scars made by the AVE rail construction work were often visible.

Three cyclists passed us during the day but we were long settled in our albergue before we were joined by two young men from Korea. Later two Spanish men arrived separately and a French man also looked in but headed off again to find a casa rural. I'm not sure why as you could not find fault with the albergue.

It has been cold these mornings and it is generally close to 10:00am before we feel any heat from the sun. Out of the sun at any time of day it can be cool - a huge change from what we were experiencing a month ago.

786km completed, 163km to go.
